Direct Billing

At Viva Dental, we offer Direct Billing to third-party Insurance.

What that means is that we will be happy to file insurance claims for you and we will work with you to ensure that you receive the maximum benefits to which you are entitled.

Remember, dental insurance is intended to cover some, but not all of the cost of your dental care.

You should also be aware that different insurance carriers vary greatly in the types of coverage available and that group benefits are designed based on options your employer has chosen for you.

Your policy may base its eligible fee on a fixed fee schedule other than the fixed dental fee guide, which may or may not coincide with the Alberta Dental fee guide billing.

By becoming a patient at Viva Dental and consenting to the proposed treatment the patient is entering a financing agreement with Viva Dental directly.

Please carefully review the New Patient form and Financial agreement before signing. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Please note that as a subscriber and an Insurance policy holder, you are responsible for settling all disagreements with your insurance company’s decisions not to cover any portion of your payment.

Our staff can not be your legal representative in navigating these issues.

Our specialists answer your FAQs

Check out answers to our most commonly asked questions about Dental Insurance and Finances.

What is a “pre-determination”?
A Pre-Determination Estimate gives you the exact cost of the treatment. Upon request, we’ll file this paperwork with your insurance provider before any work being done. While this may delay your treatment, you’ll know exactly what (if any) out-of-pocket costs you may be required to pay.
Can you check for sure if the treatment will be covered by my Insurance?
This may be a tricky question, because each insurance policy may differ. Oftentimes insurance companies may require further information from the dentist. Sometimes they may not release any information to us, and the claim response may take up to 6 weeks to arrive in the mail. Having said that, we will do our best to verify, on your behalf, the coverage on your insurance plan (Predetermination Claim) and proceed with collecting payment directly from your insurance company.
Do I need to pay first or can you bill to my insurance company directly?
Most of the time we are able to collect the ;payment from your insurance directly on your behalf. However some insurance comp[anies and their policies are set up in such a way that the funds will be deposited directly into your bank account. If that is the case we are asking our clients to immediately notify us and transfer these funds to us.
