When Do I Need a Crown?

A dental crown is usually recommended for larger areas of decay, broken teeth, on a tooth that is root canal treated, or as a restoration for a dental implant.

Tooth crowns are designed to replace your entire tooth, fitting over your remaining tooth and protecting your root.

A crown protects the integrity of your natural tooth while keeping the aesthetics and tooth function you had before.

Your dental crown can typically be completed over a few weeks with two visits to your dentist.

Here is what you can expect throughout the process:

First Visit

The first appointment is to prepare your tooth for its final restoration by taking impressions of it and placing a temporary crown for you to wear while a dental lab fabricates your new crown.

Usually takes up to two weeks for the lab to finish your crown.

Second Visit

Once your new crown is ready, you'll return to Viva Dental to have your permanent crown cemented.

Your dentist will make sure the crown fits perfectly and will make any required adjustments to ensure that your bite works properly so you can chew with ease and enjoy all the foods you love.

Caring for Your Dental Crown

Visit your dentist regularly for exams and cleanings, and make sure to brush and floss daily.

Regular dental care is crucial for long-term dental health and the success of your tooth crown.
